A: Passengers are allowed to convey the following as hand luggage: -
· 1st class tickets holders allowed to carry 50kgs small parcels free of charge
· 2nd class tickets holders allowed to carry 35kgs small parcels free of charge
· 3nd class tickets holders allowed to carry 20kgs small parcels free of charge
Any excess luggage will require be paying for and conveyed in the luggage van attached to the same train the passenger is travelling on except in special circumstances where the excess luggage may be delivered at a later date.

A: It takes an approximately 42 hours between Dar es Salaam and New Kapiri Mposhi. The passenger train is planned in such a way that passengers pass through specific areas along the line to enable them view the magnificent scenery, game and other attractions, to mention but a few.

Q: How do you charge for a ticket?
· An adult pays full fare.
· A student (under 21 years) with a valid identity card pays half fare.
· Children under the age of three years travelling under the care of an adult passenger shall be conveyed free of charge.
· Children, who have attained the age of three years and re under the age of sixteen years, shall be conveyed at children fares.

Q: Do you allow people of the same family to be in one compartment?
A: Yes, we allow, only if payment is done for one compartment as a family, otherwise, we do not mix passengers of different sexes. Remember our 1st class compartments have four berths and 2nd class six berths.
Q: What about immigration services in case one has a problem or need to get a visa?
A: Immigration offices are available in both countries. Passengers are advised to complete visa arrangements before taking the train. However, Immigration Services are also available at Dar es Salaam Station area, and when boarding the train at Tunduma and Nakonde Stations, on the Tanzanian and Zambian sides, respectively. Immigration and Customs services are also the on the passenger train for both directions.

A: Yes, at New Kapiri Mposhi one can catch a public bus and taxis to Lusaka or any other place you may be travelling to.
