Dar es Salaam, 9 May 2025 - The Managing Director of Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL), Mr. Cuthbert Malindi, undertook a strategic visit to Dar es Salaam to familiarise himself with the operations of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), Malawi Cargo Centre Limited (MCCL), and Zambia Cargo and Logistics (Zamcargo).

During the visit, Mr. Malindi held high-level meetings with the Chief Executive Officers of the three entities to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in railway operations, cargo handling, and cross-border logistics. The leaders affirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening regional rail connectivity and improving service delivery along the Dar es Salaam Corridor.

“Our goal is to create a seamless and efficient railway network that supports regional trade, reduces transport costs, and delivers real value to our economies,” said Mr. Malindi, ZRL Managing Director. “This visit was not just about familiarisation—it was about forging stronger partnerships for shared success.”

The CEO of TAZARA, Eng. Bruno Ching’andu, echoed this sentiment, stating:

“Collaboration among our institutions is key to unlocking the full potential of the regional rail network. By aligning our efforts, we can offer customers a more reliable and integrated service.”

He added:

“TAZARA is excited to rekindle the past partnership with ZRL and Zamcargo, all of which carry Zambia’s interests. We welcome Mr. Malindi’s entry and his desire to restore collaboration among the three entities.”

Zamcargo’s CEO, Mr. Vyonsi Manda, also highlighted the importance of shared efforts in achieving operational efficiency:

“As a bulk cargo clearing and forwarding entity, Zamcargo is an undeniable railway enthusiast. We are therefore committed to this partnership by ensuring cargo moves swiftly, safely, and efficiently between port and final destination—laying the foundation for operational excellence, with end-to-end service delivery as our key value proposition.”

The three parties agreed to maintain regular engagement and explore joint projects aimed at modernizing infrastructure, improving efficiency, and attracting customers to the Dar es Salaam Corridor.

This engagement marks a significant step toward operational integration, enhanced service delivery, and the promotion of seamless cross-border rail transport in the region.
