The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) regrets to inform our esteemed passengers that the Mukuba Passenger Train (New Kapiri Mposhi – Nakonde) will not be able to operate on Friday, 5 September 2025, as earlier announced, due to the non-availability of locomotives on the Zambian side of TAZARA.

The few locomotives that are operational remain temporarily blocked in Tanzania following a fire incident at Bridge 246 (Kilometre 815). The bridge is currently being secured for safe passage through the replacement of the wooden sleepers, and trains are expected to start moving across by Friday Afternoon.

We are pleased to advise that normal passenger services will resume on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, with the Mukuba Passenger Train departing from New Kapiri Mposhi for Nakonde at 12:00 hours as per the regular timetable.

Ticketing, Bookings, Refunds

  • Tickets already purchased remain valid for the 9 September service (same class and seat where possible).
  • Passengers who prefer not to travel on 9 September may rebook for a later date at no extra charge or request a full refund at the point of purchase.
