Dar es Salaam, 19th August 2025

The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) regrets to inform passengers of temporary disruptions affecting both the Kilimanjaro and Mukuba passenger services due to separate incidents.

1. Kilimanjaro Service Disruption (Dar es Salaam–Mbeya Route) - Normal Services will resume TODAY.

Friday’s Dar es Salaam–Mbeya service was cut short after a collision with a fully grown buffalo in the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Game Park (147 km from Dar). The incident caused damage to two luggage vans, a coach, and the track.

As a result, the train returned to Dar es Salaam, leading to the cancellation of both the down service to Mbeya and the up service to Dar es Salaam.

Normal operations for the Kilimanjaro will resume TODAY 19/08/2025 with the train departing Dar es Salaam for Mbeya at 22:00.

2. Mukuba Service Temporary Schedule (Mpika–Nakonde Route Only)

Following a freight train derailment between Serenje and Kabuluma, the Mukuba Passenger Trainwill operate only between Mpika and Nakonde until further notice. Repairs are expected to take several days.

Affected passengers booked beyond Mpika (toward Kapiri Mposhi) will receive refunds.
